Prof.V.Yoga Jyotsna, DEAN
Prof.V.Yoga Jyotsna has been teaching for the last 35 years at the Dept of Political Science- Osmania University. Her area of specialization is International Studies; several of its specialized courses and Defense & Strategic Studies.
She has been a visiting Faculty to University of Utah-Salt Lake City-Utah & Kansas State University-Manhattan- Kansas in 2011offering courses on India’s Foreign Policy. In 2012, she went to Bandarnaike Center for International Studies- Colombo to interact on areas such as Human Security, Coastal
security and Disaster Management. She also visited Dubai in 2012. In 1993, 1994 Dr. Jyotsna represented India to Pakistan as a member of Track II.
Research areas/ supervision:
Her Doctoral Thesis was titled "Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe & India's Security" (1990) and M.Phil. Dissertation was on “Military Dimension in India- France Relations” (1984).
She is currently working on Security implications for India by focusing on:
India - Afghanistan bilateral relations; Infrastructure Developments in the Chabahar & Gwadar regions; India’s Connect Central Asia Policy. She represents the Social Science Faculty in the Research Development & Consultancy Cell of OsmaniaUniversity. The Rajaji International Institute of Public Affairs & Administration has appointed Prof Jyotsna as Convenor for their Research & Development cell and Co- Convenor for their Information Resource cell.
She has supervised over 30 M.Phils & Six Ph Ds. Her domain expertise is International Studies, Foreign and
Defence policies as Public Policies, and Research Methodology. She is a Guest Faculty with: College of Air Warfare ; College of Defense Management; NALSAR; Prasar Bharati’s Programme Executives Training Programmes; Academic Staff Colleges of: Allahabad University; Lucknow University; University of Pune; Madras University; Osmania University; OUCIP; Sakshi School of Journalism.
Between 1980 and 2016 she participated in nearly 60 national & 12 International Seminars in India and abroad.
In 1998, Prof Jyotsna was one of the participants who defended India’s Nuclear Policy and establishment of Strategic Command in round tables organized by American Embassy- New Delhi and the National Institute of Advanced study-NIAS-Bangalore. In 2004, Prof Jyotsna participated in India’s First NET Assessment Seminar by Integrated Defense Staff –MOD at Bangalore and presented a paper on “External Powers, Confidence Building Measures and Risk Management” where Membership to Afghanistan in SAARC has been one of her recommendations. GOI secured membership to Afghanistan by 2007. As
senior Faculty she has conducted Three Refresher Courses on Political Science; International Relations ; Research Methodology at O U Academic Staff College. She was a national level resource person for the committee convened for curriculum development in American Studies. Cross disciplinary and interdisciplinary areas with a policy orientation interest her immensely. Between 2005 and 2014 she has been the Convener for several professional Seminars/ annual conventions/ International Conferences and International workshops. Major ones include : “New Dimensions of
Comprehensive Security” - 2005; International Conference on “Disaster Management - 2012” International Workshops on “Peace, Prosperity and Progress in Central Asia; and Maritime Asia-2014.”.
Professor Jyotsna's published on Kashmir problem in South Asia Politics; on Taliban in Education about Asia from Chattanooga Univ –USA; with a reprint in National Geographic. Her latest essay titled "Economic Intervention as an instrument of Foreign Policy. India's Role in
Afghanistan" is translated into Pashtu/Dari. Proceedings of the workshops on Central Asia; and Maritime Asia-in 2014 are being edited. At present she is preparing two monograph independently on Maritime Trade Facilitation to Land Locked Countries; and Rare Earth Elements.She has contributed to and edited texts on International Relations in English and Telugu at the graduate and post-graduate levels for PGRRCDE- Osmania University; AP Open University; & Open School. For the Educational Multi- Media Research Centre- Osmania University as well as for the AP Open University she has
recorded numerous audio-video lessons on International Studies/ Foreign Policy telecast on Doordarshan & Gyan Darshan Channels regularly. She comments on contemporary affairs via T V channels; Doordarshan; and AIR. Prof. Naidu Ashok, Professor of Political Science, and Principal, University College of Arts and Social Sciences O.U. with specialization in ‘Indian Government & Politics’ and ‘Public Policy’ is presently holding the posts of Director, Dept. of Publications & Press, O.U. and Director, Gandhian Studies Centre, O.U. Prof. Naidu Ashok has more than two and half decades of teaching, research and administrative experience and has made significant contributions to the institution building and university governance.
Prof. Naidu Ashok served with distinction as Principal, University PG College, Mahabubnagar during 1998-2009 and founder Principal, Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar and later as Member of Executive Council, Osmania University during 2005-2010. His achievements as Principal, Nizam College (2009-2012) include re-accreditation in 2012 with grade A (CGPA score of 3.19), securing phase-II of college with potential for excellence status, extension of autonomy for a period of six years and award of DBT Star status, DST – FIST Level ‘0’. The infrastructure development in Nizam
College since 2009 includes construction of IInd Floor Boys hostel, separate Girls hostel from UGC grants and new Chemistry Block.
For the College Annual Day function – 2012 of Nizam College, the then honourable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and alumnus of the College Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy garu was the Chief Guest. He sanctioned an amount of Rs. Five Crores for construction of Sports Complex and additional hostel building.

Prof.Ravinder Dandaboini joined the Osmania University in the year 1990 as Assistant Professor, became Associate Professor in 1999 and Professor in 2007. Presently, The Principal of the PG College, Secunderabad and also holding Deputy Coordinator in the Centre for Advanced Studies-II. His area of specialization is Indian Political Process, Democratic Decentralization and Government and Politics of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He has published fifteen articles in National and International Journals like Economic and Political Weekly, Social Change (Published by Sage International
International Publication), ISDA, IJPS and IJPA etc. He has participated and presented around thirty research papers in National/International seminars/Conferences. He has submitted three minor research projects, one is financed by UGC another two supported by PRIA and CWS(National NGOs) in the areas of Democratic Decentralization. He has been associated in conducting National/International seminars. He has been supervising M.Phil., Ph.D., research scholars within and outside the Department.
He has been associated with various
civil societal organizations in the state and collected the information from grass-roots in turn published around thirty one articles in the vernacular press. He has been participating in live discussions in electronic media on contemporary socio-political issues. He contributed few lessons for UG/PC students of Dr.BRAOU and SDLCE of Kakatiya University. He is also resource person for Academic Staff College, OU, NIRD and NGO’s. Earlier he held the position of Head in the Department of Political Science at OUCW. He is life member of All India Political Science Association.
Presently he is working on two projects:
1. Backward Class Movements in Andhra Pradesh and
2. Hegemonic Politics in A.P.

Channa Basavaiah Madapathi is a Professor with the Department of Political Science, also serves as Honorary Director of the Indian Council of Social Science Research – Southern Regional Centre (ICSSR-SRC), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. His areas of research interest include International Relations and Public Policy studies with special reference to Nuclear Politics, Renewable Energy and Energy Security.
Prof.Channa has published a number of Articles in journals and edited books, prominently the Economic and Political
Political Weekly (EPW), Strategic Analysis, Social Action, Indian Ocean Studies etc. He has presented papers at numerous conferences and symposia. His paper “No more Uranium Mining and No more Hibakusha” was presented at the World Conference against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs, organized by the Japan Council against A & H Bombs, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 2004 among others.He has prepared multimedia lessons telecasted on the UGC channel and for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University. He has undertaken and completed four minor research projects and has guidedmany students to the award of M. Phil and Ph.D. He is
also associated with various other academic institutions like Academic Staff Colleges of different universities and the College of Air Warfare (CAW), Secunderabad as a Resource Person. Prof. A V Satish Chandra, is a Professor with Political Theory/Philosophy being his interest and specialization. He also has interest in Political Economy and Culture Theory and studies. He is an alumnus of the US State Department and went to the Tata Institute of Social Sciences where he was the founding Chairman of the Centre for Public Policy and Governance. He is presently the Coordinator of the UPE Centre for Advanced Research and Training – Governance and Development. He is also on the panel of resource persons for the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resources Development Institute and
is a regular resource person at the Academic Staff Colleges of Osmania University, University of Hyderabad and Maulana Abul Kalam National Urdu University. He is also a Visiting Faculty at the Nalsar University and a resource person for Research Methodology courses for young teachers and research scholars at the same university. Apart from these he is also on the Governing Board of several colleges as the VCs nominee.
